A Colorado native, Theresa's interest in metal began over thirty years ago in a middle school art class. Her desire to create continued to grow and in High School Theresa won national art awards for her designs. Metal became Theresa's passion. Throughout college, Theresa paid for her education by working for local jewelers doing repairs, setting diamonds, and making custom designs. Theresa graduated with her degree in Art Education.
For 12 years following college, Theresa traveled with high school students exploring the southwest, living on the Navajo reservation, running rivers, scuba diving, and teaching rock climbing in Mexico. She has also spent time exploring Europe and South America. During this time, Theresa maintained her interest in jewelry and considered it her therapy during breaks from her extensive travels. After many years of traveling, Theresa decided to teach jewelry and metalsmithing classes at the high school and college level.
From 1993-1999 Theresa spent six years in the Washington, D.C. area with her husband and two children. While in Washington, D.C., she continued her professional career as a jewelry artist and served as vice-president of the Washington Guild of Goldsmiths. She was responsible for coordinating the Society of North American Goldsmiths Conference in Washington, D.C. and also served as a chairperson for the Washington Guild of Goldsmiths member show in 1998.
Theresa's background and love for nature is what continues to inspire her artwork. She hopes that her jewelry expresses, celebrates, and captures the natural forms of nature. Today, Theresa has a studio and resides in Fruita, Colorado with her family and two dogs. Here, Theresa continues to make unique handcrafted pieces that will be sure to grab your attention for years to come.
